Travelogue: Isla Gigantes' Baquitan CaveWednesday, May 08, 2013
"If my world were to cave in tomorrow, I would look back on all the pleasures, excitements and worthwhilenesses I have been lucky enough to have had."
SPELUNKING. Isla Gigantes is blessed with numbers of caves and we are lucky enough to visit one--- the Baquitan cave. If my memory is right, i think we left Gigantes Hideaway Tourist Resort at around 7:00 AM. We took a short ride in a motor bike to the foot of the mountain. We hiked for about 3 minutes upto the mouth of the cave---and the adventure begun! Inside is nature’s masterpiece. Sparkling stalactites and stalagmites are everywhere. One cant fathom how these creations has been made. Just imagine how many years it takes for these treasures to be formed.
It was an unforgettable adventure. We went through a hole that only a single person could fit and you really need to crawl for you to get to the other side. Another extreme is climbing an almost 90 degrees cliff without any harness or rope! Huh! I even wore a dress that time , harhar hooray for GIRL POWER!! And mind you, we are all girls! WE SURVIVED! Phfft! What can you say boys?? Haha,., I’m kidding! It was such a fulfillment for us girls to finish the trek knowing that some other groups wasn't able to finish the whole trek And we were even more proud when we came to know that we were the 132nd group to survive ever since the Baquitan cave spelunking history has begun. (^-^)

Eto talaga buwis buhay! We climbed an almost 90 % slippery slope without any harness. I was shaking and wailing that time. I'm soo scared!! Wala ka ba naman mahawakan?? Buti madilim, di ko kita kung ganu ka lalim you cliff sa baba. huhu
And the last exit!!! Can you imagine how we fit there? (^-^)

The whole gang (^-^)
These are the "longon", ancient wood coffin, that is 7 to 9 ft long found inside the cave. And the locals believe that there are giants who inhibited their place long time ago, hence the island is called "Isla de Gigantes" or "Island of the Giants".
The crying ladies!! Harhar, how silly! (^-^)
